Universities & Colleges
The IFIUS World Interuniversity Games are open for all universities and colleges worldwide. Where necessary, selections are made based upon geographical parameters.
Student athletes
All (1) students that are accredited by the university (in possession of a student card) and (2) students who finalized their studies in the past academic year are allowed to enter the Games. Nevertheless, during the Budapest 2008 General Assembly will be voted on an age restriction between 17 an 28 years old. Please notice that any changes in relation to the age restriction are only implemented during the 2009 Games.
Laws of the Game (Football, Futsal, Volleyball and Basketball)
The FIFA, FIBA and FIVB Laws of the Games are applicable with a number of minor exceptions. The Laws of the Game are placed on the Member Area after the registration deadline.
IACC (International Arbitration and Control Commission)
The IACC acts as Arbitration & Control Commission, recognised by the International Federation for Interuniversity Sport, in order to:
| (1) |
Guarantee the correct development/progress of the IFIUS Games |
| (2) |
Guarantee that the official regulations of the concerned International Federations (FIFA/FIBA/FIVB) are respected, taking into account the adaptations and the applications of the IFIUS Laws of the Game in the different sports disciplines. |
| (3) |
Control the accreditation cards of the players. The IACC holds the right throughout the entire Games to carry out this control. |
| (4) |
Assure observation by the IACC Members that penal provisions towards a certain player are carried out correctly. |
At the end of each Game day, all Commissions of the IACC will take note of the results and Referee reports. The penal provisions, taken by the IACC, will be forwarded by an IFIUS Official to the Head of the delegation of the concerned team, with a copy to the Referees and IFIUS Secretariat. The penal decisions taken by IACC are final and definitive, without possibility of appeal.
