Members in the Picture: Vienna University of Technology (Austria)

The Vienna University of Technology, located in the heart of Austria's Capital, is among the most successful technical universities in Europe and with its 17.000 students, Austria's largest scientific-technical research and educational institution.

Last year the University acted as host of the World Interuniversity Games 2007, leading to a very successful edition of the competition for over 1.100 student athletes from countries all over world. For many years now, the Vienna University of Technology has been a strong competitor in the IFIUS Men’s Football Competition and this year in Budapest it will be no different.

“The team doesn’t have any real stars. The strength of the team is their collective.” says Anton Hörmann, Manager of the Football Team. But the ambition of the team remains high, when asked about their aim for the Budapest 2008 Games; Mr Hörmann only has one answer: “World Interuniversity Champion!”

During the Vienna 2007 Games, the team reached the Semi-Finals and in 2003 (Rome) the Vienna University of Technology achieved their best result by reaching the final of the competition. According the IFIUS web-team, the university promises to be one of the favourites again this year.
