After a great week of high-level competitions, IFIUS is proud to announce the 2009 Milan World Interuniversity Champions.

General Assembly and walking dinner

On Wednesday evening the official IFIUS General Assembly took place in the Host University, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore. After the adress of Peter Verboven, IFIUS founder and Vice President, the budget was presented and approved. Afterwards the EUSA - IFIUS Partnership proposal was explained and positively accepted by the members. Following the proposal to introduce promotional sports to the IFIUS World Interuniversity Games, the IFIUS Secretary General, Dr. G. Kotchofa, presented his annual report. Finally each member received their official Certificate of Participation from IFIUS President, Dr. Ghadimi followed by a reception with walking dinner.

Competitions kicked off

The competitions of the 11th IFIUS World Interuniversity Games Milan 2009 kicked off on Tuesday 13 October 2009 under a beautiful sunny sky. Already some of the strong favourites proved to be in the running for the titles this year. There were also some surprising results for both teams and spectators. However, nothing is decided yet about who will reach the next rounds. Keep visiting our website to keep on track with the results of the Milan 2009 Games.

Milan 2009 Games opened

In the magnificient Aula Magna of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, the 11th IFIUS games were opened by IFIUS President Ghadimi in the presence of the Lombardy Minister of sport Prosperini and a completely filled aula with participating and hosting students.

More and more students all over the city, while IFIUS President arrives in Milan

More and more teams from all over the world arrive in Milan, making the city the heart of international interuniversity sport for one week. Meanwhile, IFIUS President Dr. Ghadimi met during his first day in Milan with the local organizing committee and the IACC and expressed his wish to enjoy a wonderful week of student sport in the beautiful city of Milan.

IACC meetings, start final countdown to 11th IFIUS Games

Only two days away from the official opening of the 11th World Interuniversity Games, all members of the IACC arrived in Milan and met with the local organization. A last inspection of the venues concluded the day. The new IACC member for Basketball, Eric Masure, clearly indicated during the venue inspection to be satisfied with all aspects of this year’s IFIUS Games and especially with the 18 participating teams in Women’s and Men’s Basketball.

Pool allotment online Wednesday October 7th

The pool allotment of the 11th World Interuniversity Games Milan 2009 is organized next Wednesday October 7th at the IFIUS Secretariat General in Antwerp by the IFIUS IACC. From next Thursday on all match schedules will be available online. At this moment 74 university teams registered from 21 countries, representing 3 continents.
