Organizing Committee final preparations 2008 IFIUS Games

IFIUS staff travelled today to Budapest to meet with Mr. Zoltan Dibo and other members of the Budapest 2008 Organizing Committee. Different from all previous visits, the meeting of today incorporated a final check of all Games aspects. IFIUS learned during this meeting that the Budapest 2008 Organizing Committee did a tremendous job over the last months, preparing all venues, field coordinators, team guides, referees and many other Games related events. Only a few days away from the official start of the Games, the Budapest 2008 Organizing Committee is ready to welcome the world in the Hungarian capital!

Milan 2009 Organization Committee in Budapest

IFIUS is proud to welcome during the 10th World Interuniversity Games a delegation from the next host city Milan. The Milan organizing committee, chaired by Dr. Pier Gianni Prosperini, the Minister of Sports of the Italian Northern Region of Lombardy, will be present during the Budapest 2008 Closing Ceremony on Friday October 10th. The IFIUS flag will be passed over by the Budapest Organizing Committee to the Milan delegation, officially introducing the 2009 host.

Budapest 2008, Team Program Brochures and Competition Guides

On the official Budapest 2008 website, the Team Program together with the Competition Guides are now available. The Competition Guides per sport give a clear overview of all match related aspects customized for players and team officials. The Team Program Brochure explains in detail all activities and events organized each day during the 10th World Interuniversity Games. Also supporters and other visiting parties are offered a Visitors’ Program on the official Budapest 2008 website

IFIUS website restyled

As already highlighted in are news archive (March 17th 2008), the IFIUS website was over the past months subject to a complete restyling to offer an optimal interactive communication and information platform for universities worldwide. The increasing growth of visitors was a clear indication and motivation for IFIUS to improve and restyle ifius.com. Today IFIUS is proud and pleased to present the new and restyled website. Milan : A sportive and fashionable host for 2009

IFIUS has the great honour and pleasure to inform you that the 2009 World Interuniversity Games will be hosted by Milan (Italy). The Italian city, home of Football Clubs AC and Inter Milan, is renowned as a world capital of fashion and design. For the organization of the Games, IFIUS will be cooperating with Mr. Alberto Tanghetti of Eurosportevents Milan and stewards will be recruited from the Milan universities. After Budapest, another major city will be added to the list of IFIUS Host Cities.

Appointment Host City 2009 on Monday 12 May 2008

The IFIUS PC will meet from 8 to 11 May 2008 to decide on the host city 2009. After 2 consecutive organisations in Central Europe – Vienna 2007 (Austria) and Budapest 2008 (Hungary) – the Federation is now examining the possibilities and opportunities in the South of Europe. Don’t forget to check this website on Monday 12 May!
